i think the closest thing to a makeup competition i've watched irl is germany's next top model when i was staying w/ my host family in berlin...the competition in makeup remover is more theatrical, which allows for very creative makeup, costumes, and commentary (nuri's mermaid scene was outstanding). stealing from mei: if you get dolled and become beautiful, people don't stop judging you, the judging gets worse bc you put in some effort, and the road gets steeper and narrower. maybe we should just go through life making art for ourselves and appearing the way we want for our own satisfaction. but at the end of the day, we put time and effort into these things and want to be acknowledged for it. is that so wrong?
